The Interactive Media User Experience (UX) Lab at the University of Miami is an academic-based research facility that supports interdisciplinary research on understanding how people use information systems.

Research is led by Dr. Barbara Millet, Director of the User Experience Lab and Assistant Professor of Interactive Media at the School of Communication. She received a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering (Human Factors) from University of Miami, MS degree in Industrial engineering from Northeastern University and BS degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on media content and technology, including the impact of design elements on information processing, psychophysiological measures as indicators of user experience, and the way user interface design influences human behavior.
Designing a hurricane information provision system that communicates the minimal critical pieces of information to the maximum number of people from diverse backgrounds.
Characterization and assessment of the burden of hearing and balance impairments in populations with occupational exposure to hazardous noise. Research is focused on identifying barriers to noise prevention and perceived risk and guiding future treatment of noise-induced hearing loss.
